Wanderlust 2021 Week 18

Gosh, I loved this weeks lesson with Maremi.....and I don't normally like doing collages as such.
We are still on the recycled theme so used papers in our stash.

I honestly love this page.
I got out some old pages from my stash along with some ephemera I had printed out from TLCreates Vintage Monthly Club files and maybe some others that are mixed in my bits and bobs stash box.
Some white Gesso and my black Aquarellable pencil.

I also got to use on of my wash off brush napkins - this is actually the second layer in (napkin is 3 ply hand towel) and just perfect for this page. When I paint, I have a paper napkin beside me and wipe it off onto it after I wash it in the water. Generally I have it folded in half so when I open it to dry I get the colour variation.
Now you can't get more recycled than that!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wings

The prompt this week over at #MondayPromptProject is wings.

I watched the video and set about having a go with my charcoal pencil after creating a background that I though would work.

While I was waiting for the background to dry, I doodled my fairy with her wings on the back of a shopping docket...gotta be good for something hey!
Well she isn't the happiest looking fairy around I grant you, but she is just a practise one to give me a guide for placement and size.

Bahahahaha, so we are bolder, happier but a hot mess in the hair department!
Thankfully I have never once said I can draw so I don't have to be hard on myself!
I am getting better as I go along and that is great and all I need to keep me happy!
I got my water brush out and went over the charcoal for a washed effect and then my favourite water paints by Elena Art Pages.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Steampunk Challenge

Wasn't too sure how to use this month's Steampunk image for the Challenge.

Anyway looking for something else I moved my homemade Junk Journal and thought, why not?

So on my music sheet, I have a old paper plate that I used for a paint palette at some stage. The idea is you take the top layer of it away and stick that on your journal page - I thought it made a nice bird nest type of mess - hahahaha a nice hot mess happening right there!

So, along with my image, I used one of the words from a sheet from the IndgioBlu papers I got the other month.  Perfect fit for my junk journal.

The stencil I used is a Steampunk one from Stamperia and designed by Antonis Tzanidakis. I got it on Friday so thought I'd try it out with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 Week 17

This week at Wanderlust we have Kasia Avery giving us a lesson with recycling old magazines to create a collage.

I normally do a double page layout, or 2 pages, but this week just the one page.

I used 4 pages from an old Elle Magazine with the added bonus being Edwina with baby Molly on the bottom half of the top page.  Funny how things turn out.

I have used some ribbon/lace for texture and oil pastels to complete.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

#jjec 54 Lemon

Here is this week's Junk Journal Embellishment Challenge project.

I ended up googling Lemons to get my background for the tag and my saying.
The saying is also from googling!

I loved the saying so much I decide to use it on  my page in the altered book.
This way if I give the tag away I still have the saying to remind me.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 Week 16

I loved this week's class at Wanderlust 2021 by Dyan Reaveley.

I went with my 3 main colour combo I decided to use this year for Wanderlust, with the addition of Black. It makes it easier when you don't have to decide on colours to use.....lucky my are a warm combo.

I got to use my new Buddha 1 A4 stencil from ColourBlast that was designed by Michelle Grant.
Also used the Distorted Chess stencil by Visible Image and one from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps that I can't recall the name of. Another 2 stencils from my stash as well.

White and black gel pen for outlining and writing.

I found 2 great snarky quotes to use - the one in black you can read pretty well,
"Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak!"
The one in white says:
"I am practicing mindfulness, compassion and kindness, so don't piss me off!"
Loved them both.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Eyes, Don't Blink

#MondayPromptProject over at Mixed Media Art School FB group this week is Eyes.

Little Miss Tyne gave us a template to use if we felt we needed a hand .... yes I decided that might be a good idea given I have had a busy/draining week at work and feeling quite tired. Lol, I should have taken a photo and used my own eyes - one of the residents commented that I was looking tired and it was the first 30 minutes of my shift! No, the shift didn't get better by the way...

I coloured these with my Staedtler (72 set) pencils. I cannot for the life of me do eyelashes!
I started bottom up so by the time I got to the brown eyes, just extended the line out - more my style I think.

So here is my preferred eyes in my journal, along with the some of the lyric's from Kenny Chesney's Don't Blink song. That song also brings a tear to my eyes.....

I used some black acrylic pant with a brayer for my background.
My lyric's I printed in word and then onto some rice paper and adhered in journal. That didn't turn out the way I thought it would, but that's ok.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

#jjec53 Fishing

Here is this week's Junk Journal Embellishment Challenge projects.

 #jjec53 Fishing / Journaling Card

I used one of my Red Dot Books and Printables files along with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Layer print.
A nice simple layout and so calm looking I must say.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Book Page Tags

I came across this wonderful You Tube video showing how to make tags sing a book page - so of course I just had to make some!
And naturally, I now can't find the video!
(When I do, I will update it on here.)
EDITED : I found it ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgNc_iBABAc

I did the first one using distress inks as in the video, but well, let's just say it's nothing like the video.
So the other 3 I used my favourite handmade water pans by Elena Art Pages and love them.

Wow, I impressed myself I have to tell you!
Sewing needs some practice and try to figure out best combo's on the machine, but still, very happen and will make more for sure.

I used the Vintage Text Mark Making stamp from Uniquely Creative with Black Archival Ink.
My stencil I bought from CraftOnline here in Australia but can't recall the brand as it's not marked, using Liquitex Light Modelling Paste.
My flairs are from the mystery kits I bought from Bee Arty - knew I'd eventfully find a use for them.
Papers and lace from my stash.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 - Week 15

Wanderlust 2021 week 15 and Kate Crane has us using the Geli Plate again.

Now I'm not going to lie, I was pretty happy to be using the geli plate again and in reality, I really thought this would be way easier than it was!
I won't say they are failures, but they aren't great either!

So the left is my first print, using an acrylic paint that was too light. The right is my second attempt and now I have gone too dark with the acrylic paint that the alcohol ink doesn't really show the stencil pattern. I have to say I do like the left print as a background though.

So with the silhouette stencils on, I like them a lot more now.
I used my new stencil from Bee Arty called The Owl and the Pussy Cat - designed by Michelle Grant.

I also like my book page that I used to clean my brayer and the stencil with.....all ready my another project down the track!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Tuesday 13 April 2021

Abstract

#MondayPromptProject over at Mixed Media Art School FB Group last week was Abstract.

I enjoyed getting the Geli Plate out again and using some spray inks to create a background.
I then grabbed one of my Black Uni Pin pens and doodled a scribble face and scribble coffee mug to the backgrounds.
Lastly I added my own words of wisdom - Whatever you enjoy in your cup of a morning, enjoy that, and savour the moment ...

It was a lot of fun!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Spread your Wings

Here is another card I made for the Aall Scrapbook Essential's Birthday Bash FB Group week long celebration.

This card I am using a couple of papers from Bee Arty's Spread Your Wings collection designed by Michelle Grant.
I absolutely love how this turned out!
I will be putting this card into one of my Junk Journals so I get to keep it! It is a top fold card so will place in nicely for easy journaling.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Sunday 11 April 2021

Dreamer

I was invited to join the Aall Scrapbook Essential's Birthday Bash FB Group for a week long celebration.
So in the spirit of all things crafting and birthday, I am playing along with some sketch for cards.

Hubby's birthday is coming up along with our Wedding Anniversary so I'll hope to it and make those cards now using papers and ephemera from my stash!

This card I am using a couple of papers from Uniquely Creative's Dreamer range that we got in the 2020 Christmas Advent Kit. The glitter flags are from the same kit.
I added a strip of lace ribbon as well.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

#jjec 52 Dress-up Doll

Here is this week's Junk Journal Embellishment Challenge projects.

 #jjec52 Dress-up Doll / Pocket

I used my TLCreates files again to have some fun with the prompt.
I did add a tuck pocket there and popped in some fun Vintage Dolls.

My Altered Book Journal is becoming very chunky now!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Friday 9 April 2021

Pansy Journal

How fabulous is this journal by Red Dot Books and Printables!

Warning - Long post!

I bought this journal kit and printed off and created as part of the April Challenge over at Printables for your Junk Journaling with TLC facebook group.

After printing and cutting and fussy cutting.
I used distress ink around edges and then adhered it and assembled.
I added some lace to the tags and some of my baking paper that I had coffee dyed to act as tuck spots as well.

Love how it all came together.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Vintage Girl

This month our Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge is another lovely lady.

Again like last month, she just looks to be off day dreaming!
Still with yesterday's idea, I am using the right side of this signature to pop my image and some words, leaving the left side for journaling thoughts along the way.

The sentiments are from Tim Holtz Clipping Stickers.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Never More Designs Gothic Challenge

I love this month's Never More Designs Gothic Image Challenge, she reminders me of Wednesday!

I decided to continue in the coffee stained signature booklet I started last month with the cover.
I thought if I put the image on the right hand page, I have the left side to journal on. LOL, works for me! I know it's pretty plain looking, but it's practical and it's right for me and my style.

My words are from Ephemoire, Word Strip #3 file in my stash.

So next month, I turn the page and create another layout.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 Week 13

Here we go with Wanderlust 2021 Week 13.

The last month was so busy that I didn't even realise I had not blogged this one.

We had Kasia Avery teaching us about Silhouette's and using our Geli Plate.

Not going to lie, it just didn't happen for me because I forgot to mirror my 2nd image print.
So I had a very hard time trying to line up and imagine where it would be - end result still gives the idea of the class and next time I will remember (let's hope).

I do love the right page though - my image and excess paint from my brayer rolled off on book pages and a bit of stenciling. I really like how the black and white photo pops off the page.

This is a photo (photocopied) from my family pictures - my husband's side. No one actually knows who the bride is, as there is no writing on back, but she is glowing and I love her veil.
I love the idea of using our own photo's and must get to scanning the others as I have so many from the early 1900's.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 Week 14

What a fun class this week with Wanderlust.

Week 14 we have Nicole Warrington as a teacher and she has us discovering our "Spirit Tree".

Now I am not that good at drawing and least of all at trees!
I found a tree on the internet site suggested - unsplash.com that you can get free images to use.
Got my water paints out and made a start.

This tree in it's picture form resonated with me and my family roots both current and childhood family.
When I drew it, that bottom branch on the left is meant to represent myself (in my family) and also my son in our family - well, what do you know, it looks like I was playing hangman!
Anyway, we are both happy in our skin and love the solitude of our own company at times away from all the chaos.

I love the gold and blue splashes and really enjoyed the process of this class.
In fact, the more I look at my spirit tree, the more I am learning and "seeing" through it.

Writing up this post, I realise that my last Wanderlust posting was for Week 10!
I did last week (13) but the two before just didn't appeal to me - and that's ok, I may do them at a later date. I will post my Week 13 tomorrow.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Happy Easter 2021

Happy Easter to you all wherever you are at the moment.

We are blessed that our COVID-19 Lockdown got lifted just in time to actually be able to have the kids and their partner's over for Lunch yesterday.

Yes, we did it on Saturday as that was when we all could make it at the one time. As you get older, you realise it's the fact that you get together that is important, not the actual day/time. I am happy that my kids still want to spend time with us - being aged in your 20's is a bit demanding/confusing at times with so many external pressures on you.

Happy to say we had a great day - not the picnic we planned due to raining weather, but improvised and had it at our home indoors instead. Too much chocolate of course - I said to my husband that you can never have to much chocolate, to which he replied, yes you can.
Guess I get to eat more myself then!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

#jjec 50 - 51- Steampunk

Here are my next two Junk Journal Embellishment Challenge projects.

With playing a long with Blog Along with Effy, I thought I would show these every week rather than at the end of the month.
So here is last week's and this week's!

#jjec50 Steampunk / Tag

I used one of my Steampunk Journal Kit files from Vectoria Designs for this week's project.
I love Steampunk and am trying to get better at it as I go along. These kits sure make it easier!

#jjec51 Bunny / Journaling Card

This week I reverted back to my TLCreates files.
I used one of the tags as a pocket, and tucked the other in behind. It can easily be used to add some journaling to it.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Friday 2 April 2021

Repeat

I hope you all are having a great "Good Friday"!
I had to work this morning, and being in the Dementia Unit, it seemed like just another day, but happy to say my shift was pleasant (lol, not often I say that) and my Friday is now Good!

#MondayPromptProject over at Mixed Media Art School FB Group this week is Repeat.

I normally get it done that night or Tuesday, but my week being the week it was, I finally got to doing it last night to relax.

I used my handmade water paints I bought from Elena Art Pages - you can't tell, but that bottom left pink is shimmery and just beautiful on the right angle.
SO now here's where I got creative, I was trying to find a cap I saved to do circle rings on my journal pages, and yep, couldn't find it. But I did see the used tealight in my owl diffuser and bingo, aren't they just magical repeated on my page. I figured it was a bit plain looking, so got my black pen out and doodled a border around it and repeated the wee circles on each side.
Now time to visit Ms Google and find an appropriate saying that resonated with me:

Wake up    Get Inspired    Do Great Things    Repeat

Now that was just the saying I needed in my life yesterday! I was feeling a bit down in the morning, but after doing my journal page last night, I went to bed feeling more positive.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Thursday 1 April 2021

Blog Along with Effy

Ok, so here's a challenge that should be pretty easy to follow along with (I hope).......

It's April 1 in Australia already so I thought I would do my first post about blogging each day to hold me accountable for it.....the fun part to this is that it really doesn't matter what we blog about, but that when we post our blog post on the FB group page, we then have to visit and comment on 3 other blogs.

That is so cool, to be able to see what others around the world are up to and let them know that they matter in our time and we care enough to encourage them and make their day with a comment. I am so looking forward to it.

Now on a side note, living in South East Queensland, we are finishing our 3 day Lockdown (oops, finished it 7 minutes ago!!!!!!!) so we are able to meet up with our kids for Easter!
Thankful for that!

But, the downer is that because I am an AIN in a Nursing Home, we are still in Lockdown for another 14 days - yep, mask and shields. I tell you, I don't mind the mask so much, but that shield! my god, can someone please invent a shield that those of us that wear glasses don't have the double fog up! Seriously, we look scary enough to the residents without me giving a Darth Vader effect to it...

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what I post tomorrow. Yes my mind often goes in ten directions!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!
