Sweet Little Birds

Are you ready for a new month's Challenge over at Arty Divas Challenge Blog.
Yes, I am pleased to say I have joined the Arty Divas team - LOL, an appropriate title for me I would have thought!
This month's theme is as always "Anything Goes", doesn't get any easier than that does it!

This month we are playing with Lilli Rain Designs Sweet Little Birds as well as French Ephemera Set 1.

I started by resizing and printing off the images I wanted to use on 160 GSM Digital Paper - my go to now for prints.

After trimming and fussy cutting, I sponged the edges of all the images and card bases with Vintage Photo distress ink.

For my Sweet Little Birds image, I die cut a stem and flowers from my Tim Holtz Small Tattered Florals thinlits and again, sponged the edges. I then gave the flowers some shape and adhered the sizes and then set aside.
Using a piece of Asian printed book paper, I tore the sides to a size I wanted and sponged those edges as well.

Now it was just a matter of placing it all on my card base and moving it all around until I got it to the places I was happy with. Then adhering it all down in place.

The same process for my second card using the French Ephemera images as well.

Now you have seen what I have done, it's your turn! I look forward to seeing your entry in our Challenges.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

La Vie Paris

Have you entered this month's Customer Challenge over at Gecko Galz yet?
The theme is La Vie Paris.

I made a set of 2 cards for the challenge.

My backgrounds are a couple of the pages from Victorian Elegance Junk Journal Kit.
My main images are from Paris Dreams.

My first card I went shabby chic and distress the image edges to match the background, Used Vintage Photo distress ink around the edges, including the card base.

My second card I rounded the corners of the background and the image. Used Black Soot distress ink around the edges, and again around the card base.

I love how both cards turned out.
So now it's your turn to show me what you can do this month - you have until the 29th to get your entry blogged and onto the blog page. Why not try an image from the Newsletter freebies as well.
It really is worth the try to have some fun and maybe win $25 to spend in the store along your way!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Steampunk Monthly Challenge

I made a Journal Cover with the image for the Gecko Galz Steampunk Monthly Challenge this month.

I was playing with piano roll paper and this is one of the projects I ended up with.
I decided to pop this month's image on it and a bit of stamping with Walnut Stain distress ink.
I think it has turned out quite well. I do need to make a signature to pop inside of it, and then it will be complete.
I am thinking that maybe I will also add some stitching around the edges too... will see.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge

For the Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge this month, I decided to make a another tag.

I made a tag with some cardstock and patterned paper.
Added my image and then a strip of gold glitter washi tape and a sentiment from one of the Uniquely Creative cut-a-parts.
Then I just had to add a bit of ribbon and another tag ready for Christmas time!

So much fun!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Very Vintage Christmas

Hello again, 25 Tags of Christmas is still going and here is my 2nd Tag for you to create.

I chose a wonderful pastel/faded type Santa image form the Very Vintage Christmas Collage sheet along with one of the background images from the Christmas in Nature ATC Set . I then printed them on 160 GSM White premium digital paper.

I gathered a few things from my stash to get an idea of the type of tag I wanted to create.

I decided to make a start with vintage music sheet page. My thinking here is to make a vintage Christmas tag. I turned the page over and glued each side half way in so it made a strip for my tag without having a blank edge. I then adhered this onto a piece of black cardstock (no reason except it was laying around) to use as a backing to strengthen my tag. Then I used one of my tag dies and die cut the tag. Using my Vintage Photo distress ink, I sponged around my edges.

Having a play with placement of items from my stash, I decide to distress the edges of my images and sponge with the Vintage Photo distress ink. Now it is starting to look a bit more vintage. At this stage it’s a matter of playing with placement again and picking out what to finish it with.

I adhered my background image with liquid glue (use your preferred medium) and the adhered the pale blue lace at the bottom of my tag. Then using the same designed lace I adhered the pale pink on top with a touch of blue showing.

Using foam dots and foam strip, I adhered my Santa inspired image. Next I used some glittery red thread and tied a bow in my wooden button and then adhered to the tag.

Lastly, I added some cream lace ribbon to the eye of my tag.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge

For the Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge this month, I decided to make a tag.

I made a tag with some cardstock and patterned paper.
I adhered a strip of green velvet down one side and some ribbon and eyelash trim through the eyelet.
My sentiment is from one of the Uniquely Creative cut-a-parts.

And while I was at it, I made an altered paperclip for my planner using one of the images from the Very Vintage Christmas collage sheet.

So much fun!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Monthly Image

Ok, as I mentioned yesterday, when I started to create with this month's Gecko Galz Monthly Image, I found that I had done last months but forgot to post it, so here she is finally!

I popped her in my Coffee stained Journal and added a sassy saying.
I love this image and really should print it off again to remind me to use her on another layout sometime........lol, add her to the increasing stash I have to my left!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Monthly Image

This month's Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge is a delightful vintage photo in purple hues.

I popped her in my Coffee stained Journal and added a sassy saying from one of my Michelle Grant Designs files.

I forgot I had done last month's but not posted so I will show you that one tomorrow.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge

A new month and another image to use for the Christmas Challenge.

I made my own tag with some scraps of paper from the Tis The Season Collection by Kaisercraft.
Sponge around the edge with Vintage Photo distress ink.
Added my image of the month and then some tasell and ribbon from my stash.

I then decided to make a second tag ready to decorate later.

These are perfect for gifts as well in your planner or book you are reading.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge

Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge for this month had me thinking of wine!

I added her to my Coffee Stained signatures I am using for the monthly challenges.
I googled for some fun wine sayings and this one was perfect! I used one of my gel pens and wrote it in.
Time is short for me at the moment, so this is perfect for me to do something quickly but still be creative.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Christmas Challenge

Here's  a tag I made using the image for the Christmas Challenge over at Gecko Galz.

Firstly I sized and printed off the image to suit the tag I am using.
I adhered to the front of the tag and then used my gel pens and sharpies to add some colour.
This reminded me of some old photo's from my mum's wedding day that looked like someone had just added some splashes of colour to it.
Hasn't technology come a long long way!
All it needed then was some ribbon and it's all ready to put on a gift bag come Christmas time.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge

This month the Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge is a black and white image of a mother and her two daughters (could also be an Aunt).....

What a fab image!
It really doesn't need much as I wanted to keep it the focal point of the page.
My Beautiful Memories stickers where just the right touch to my journal page.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Vintage Rose

Another layout done in my Altered Book Journal.

Again using stash from my Mystery Junk Journal Bundle I bought.

Two digital papers in my stash.
I made a side tuck pocket and made a journal card with the top piece of the page and the background with the bottom bit.
I think they both work well together.

Only 6 more layouts to go and then I can create the cover for it.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Vintage Tags

Another layout completed in my Altered book Journal and I made some tags too!

The digital papers I used here are from a Mystery Junk Journal Bundle I bought off a lady on Etsy.
(it was so good I bought a second one!)

In both bundles I received a page with tags on, so made them up using old book pages and ribbon/lace trims from same bundles.

Got the sewing machine out and had a play - not the neatest, but that's ok.
Just means I need to sew more to get better at it!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Here's the next layout in my Altered Book Journal.

Kept it simple and vintage with this one.

Coffee stained baking paper I stained a few months back.
Doily from my stash.
Vintage Photo Distress Ink used as well.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Book Page Tags

I came across this wonderful You Tube video showing how to make tags sing a book page - so of course I just had to make some!
And naturally, I now can't find the video!
(When I do, I will update it on here.)
EDITED : I found it ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgNc_iBABAc

I did the first one using distress inks as in the video, but well, let's just say it's nothing like the video.
So the other 3 I used my favourite handmade water pans by Elena Art Pages and love them.

Wow, I impressed myself I have to tell you!
Sewing needs some practice and try to figure out best combo's on the machine, but still, very happen and will make more for sure.

I used the Vintage Text Mark Making stamp from Uniquely Creative with Black Archival Ink.
My stencil I bought from CraftOnline here in Australia but can't recall the brand as it's not marked, using Liquitex Light Modelling Paste.
My flairs are from the mystery kits I bought from Bee Arty - knew I'd eventfully find a use for them.
Papers and lace from my stash.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Gecko Galz Vintage Girl

This month our Gecko Galz Monthly Image Challenge is another lovely lady.

Again like last month, she just looks to be off day dreaming!
Still with yesterday's idea, I am using the right side of this signature to pop my image and some words, leaving the left side for journaling thoughts along the way.

The sentiments are from Tim Holtz Clipping Stickers.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Wanderlust 2021 Week 13

Here we go with Wanderlust 2021 Week 13.

The last month was so busy that I didn't even realise I had not blogged this one.

We had Kasia Avery teaching us about Silhouette's and using our Geli Plate.

Not going to lie, it just didn't happen for me because I forgot to mirror my 2nd image print.
So I had a very hard time trying to line up and imagine where it would be - end result still gives the idea of the class and next time I will remember (let's hope).

I do love the right page though - my image and excess paint from my brayer rolled off on book pages and a bit of stenciling. I really like how the black and white photo pops off the page.

This is a photo (photocopied) from my family pictures - my husband's side. No one actually knows who the bride is, as there is no writing on back, but she is glowing and I love her veil.
I love the idea of using our own photo's and must get to scanning the others as I have so many from the early 1900's.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

#jjec 38 - 41 - Fly

Here's a journal layout I did for Junk Journal Embellishment Challenge.

Each week you get a Prompt and optional make - this is the first week of 2021, being #jjec38 and it's Word of 2021 with the option of making a Tag. (LOL, I was a late starter and this is my 4th week as I started on Week 41 and have worked back so now I am up to date with this week being 42.

#jjec38

And here are the other 3 I did as well.

#jjec39 - Winter / Topper or Journal page

#jjec40 - Dog / Faux postage stamp

#jjec41 - Mannequin / Tag

So now I am up to date, I will try to keep my posts up to date as well, even if I do it once a month.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Vintage Valentine

Getting ready for some Valentine Gift giving with Ephemoire and her VintageValentine Collage Sheet #2 file.

A bit of everything with this Collage sheet - I cut all the images out and then sponged with Vintage photo ink.

I found a heart shaped box of Raffaello chocolates so I adhered the image on with foam dots so it sits off the top.

A cute note card and envelope set with one of the small hearts on the back flap.

I used some old music sheet paper to create my rosette with another of the images. Adhered onto a white and gold straw with some ribbons on the back and another of the smaller hearts with a serrated circle of music paper to tie it all together.

Lastly, my last image with some more music paper and a large paper clip using the two large hearts that are glued together holding the clip, which in turn is holding my leftover ephemera.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!
