Shake it Off

Mixed Media Monday 2024 and my next page of my Junk Journal Planner which is the back cover page of my first signature.

Oh my, how gorgeous is that girl! or creepy as my crafty friend says. Yes, I did find her on Pintrest.
I just had to make a page with her in my planner! and what better page then one facing the cover page of the second signature. I have yet to create it, but already I know it will be to do with Christmas as it will be starting July through to December! It will be such a contrast.

Anyway, I used some chipboard roses and off cut pieces from Scraftbookingncraft which I used some Finnabair coloured texture paste on. I also added some wording bits of a 49 and Market rubon set to give it some interest. On my roses, I rubbed some Finnabair wax to help blend in a touch with the wax I rubbed around the image.
I also used a paper and a fabric flower from my stash.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Have you entered this month's Customer Challenge over at Gecko Galz yet?
The theme is Sugar Spun.

I have used Flamingo Fun and created a Tag with a lot of Bling happening, and a Journal page in my Altered Diary.

I hope I have inspired you, and now it's your turn to show me what you can do this month - you have until the 29th to get your entry blogged and onto the blog page. Why not try an image from the Newsletter freebies as well.
It really is worth the try to have some fun and maybe win $25 to spend in the store along your way!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Creative Warriors Inspiration # 18

Time for my next project to inspire you, which is a Mash Up of Secret Garden Wallpaper by Elisa Ablett for my cover, with one of the Girls from Michelle's Expand Wallpaper pack. Words from Karen Yates' Little Word Bits #2 Pack.

I grabbed my Art By Marlene Journal Book die and used the Secret Garden paper for my cover as well as my tag - Jaded Blossom die.
The small tag I die cut one of the girls from the Expand pack.
Added a piece of ripped paper from Secret Garden and then my saying from Little Word Bits #2.
Before sticking my tag down, I wrapped a piece of lace from my stash and then added a resin feather which I used Finnabair waxes on. Lastly was a piece of ribbon from my stash and a brad to use to hold my signature in and as a closure.

Well, I hope I have inspired you to look at your packs a little but differently.

Don't forget to share with us any of your projects over on the Michelle's Creative Warriors Facebook group, we'd love to see them.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Spend energy on what matters

Have you seen the Quarterly Challenges over on the Gecko Galz Challenge Blog?

Our second Challenge is an Altered Canvas and ends 29th of May, so plenty of time to get yours in.

Here is my entry using one of the Zen Goddess girls from the freebie during our October 2022 Blog Hop.

I repurposed a 8x10 canvas that I had used for a leaf bouquet that was starting to look a bit worse for wear.

I used one of the resin frames I created the other month and some shimmer mica powder by Colour Blast on it - how good did it come up!
I then have a bit of stamping, some texture paste through a new stencil from Bee Arty, a die cut, some plastic leaf stem and a finnabair metal flower with a mini gold bauble from Christmas time.
My rice paper saying is from Dina Wakley.

I really love how it turned out and have it on my wall by my printer.

I hope you like it and I can't wait to see what the next Challenge will be.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Steampunk Love Altered Paint Brush

This month I did my first ever Altered Paint Brush for my project to inspire you using the greyhound from the Steampunk Jewel It file by Gecko Galz.

I stayed on this month's Customer Challenge Theme of Steampunk Love.

I created this piece of art in Loving Memory our beloved Bee Jay. Hard to believe it's been over 3 years now since our boy went over the rainbow bridge.

I have used a few different Finnabair moulds with resin and then after painting with gesso, I used their waxes on them as well.

I hope you like them and are inspired to join in on one of our many challenges this month.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Art Journal Junkie October 2022 - Day 12

Day 12 of 31 days of Art Journaling with Art Journal Junkie Facebook Group!

So we have 3 colours: Coral, Cream and Apricot
An Affirmation Quote: Life isn't about finding Yourself, It's about creating Yourself
An element: Vintage

I love how my layout turned out.
I am enjoying trying these colour combinations that I normally would steer clear of!
I used some acrylic paints with a Finnabair stencil.
Then I got my September Subscriptions box out by Your Creative Studio and created my collages. Once I had worked out how it was all going to go with my girl, I adhered down. I also used some washi tape and rub-ons from 49 and Market.
My girl is from the Art Image pack called Silent by Michelle Grant
I then added my sentiment from the Add-on Pack  Little Words #3 by Karen Yates.
Lastly, some white splatters.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Art Journal Junkie October 2022 - Day 2

Day 2 of 31 days of Art Journaling with Art Journal Junkie Facebook Group!

So we have 3 colours: Orange, Pink and Yellow.
An Affirmation Quote: Ny Creativity is Endless
An element: Circles

I used Art by Marlene acrylic paints along with black and white.
Lol, must say it was a bit of a hot mess, but I kept on going!
I used a Finnabair stencil I have, only one I own which was a retreat prize, with black to try draw the eye away from the brightness! Then one of my circle stencils that I have no idea who's it is but I love it, with white to again tone it down.
I used one of my Art by Marlene stamp sets (circles) on a book page and then fussy cut. I also used a page from one of my Daphne's Dairy magazines and punch some larger circles out.
Once I had adhered these on my page, I used my Life of Colour Paint pens to pen my Affirmation and also add colour to the circles.

Can't say I am totally happy with it, but I can say I learnt a few things and can only get better by doing.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

ICAD 2022 - # 6 Daydream

Next card # 6 - Daydream.

Week 1 Theme is: Drawing, Mark-making, pen, pencil, marker, ink.

I am a bit late with todays (tonight here!) as I was procrastinating on what to create!
So in the end I just daydreamed as I grabbed some supplies out and thought about doing something a bit different to my normal style for a change. Perfect for daydreaming really because I would love to master mixed media!

Anyway, I started with a piece of patterned paper and did some stenciling with Black Soot distress ink.
Then I sprayed some yellow Shimmer spray in spots and let it run a bit. I decided to use another stencil with some Finnabair Texture Fantasy paste in Rose to add some texture to my card.
To finish off I grabbed out my  Tim Holtz keepsake Ephemera pack and layered a few in the bottom right corner to draw the eye.

I am entering the following Challenges:

I would love to see what you create, if you are playing along, just tag me @8806angela  if you are on Instagram.

See you tomorrow!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Can you not?

A second round of Full Deck Challenge has started and this year there are prompts, etc to go by.

So I decided to give it a go and see how far I get.

I did the first one a few days ago and saw the 2nd one this morning so jumped on in and got it done!

The prompts for this one are:
Gold, Stencil & texture paste, Black splatter, Butterfly.

My image is from Gecko Galz Pixie Children.
I used Finnabair Texture Fantasy Paste - Taupe Rose and Fire Orange.
I can't recall the brand of my stencil, but its a large 8x8 mandala type one.
Black splatters with Speedball Super Black Ink.
I used my Nuvo Gilding Flakes for my Gold.
My saying is one of the stickers from the Dylusions Back Chat pack.

I am entering her in the following Challenges:

Gecko Galz Steampunk Monthly Challenge

I finished off this Journal Cover with the image for the Gecko Galz Steampunk Monthly Challenge this month.

Like last months' Journal cover I created for this challenge, I again used my piano roll paper, but this time I stitched around the edges and sewed in a signature ready to play with.

I added some brass corner bits and then got out some chipboard cogs to play with.
I used my Finnabair waxes and got them looking more steampunk like. With the excess wax on my brush, I flicked along the sides of my image and then adhered it down. Once I had my placement of the cogs where I liked them, I then adhered them down too.

It is only a thin journal but I really like how it turned out and hope you get a chance to play along with us this month as well.

I am entering my Journal in the following challenges as well:

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Steampunk Kitty ATC Challenge

Over on the Gecko Galz Facebook page we have the ATC Swap & Challenge happening.

I have created a set of 3 for the Challenge, and a different set of 3 for my swap partner.

They are so cute!

I stayed with the backgrounds of the set and fussy cut my cats from the pdf page.
I have used 4 of the images for this set.
I  printed off some quotes and added to each one.
I used some Finnabair paste to colour up my cog which is from my stash and I'm sorry I don't know where it is from as I got them in a craft swap last year sometime. I also used it around the edges of the ATC's to add some grungy steampunk feel to them. You can't tell from the photo's but it does actually shimmer on an angle.

I will show you the other 3 when my partner says she has got them.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

More moulds

Ohhhhh got a couple more moulds to have a play with!

I got Finnabair's Flower Queen mould and Prima's My Sweet mould.
I also got some of Ranger's Quick Cure Clay to try out as well.
It is set using your heat gun, so you don't have to wait hours for it to dry.

Well, lol, that was half a success!
I say half, because the handles of the scissors did not work - that is just a matter of learning to mould the clay better....practise!
I am impressed though, the detail is amazing!

So now I paint up and then grab my waxes and have a go - or paints, or whatever I guess.
I will blog them when I have them done.

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!

Embellishments

I decided I wanted to try my hand at making some embellishments ..... lol, not for you if you want it now.
It is a time process that is for sure.
I admit I watched a few videos and thought I got this.....no, not got this.
Watched some more videos, paid attention, and now I think I do have it. Well enough to make a start and be happy with the results!

So first up is the process of clay into mould and allowing to dry - yep, 24- 48 hours (air drying clay).
Then tidying them up and a coat of black gesso - haha, I made a start and then remembered I needed to take a photo!

This mould set is called Luxembourg Hardware and is made by Prima Marketing.
The next step is rub my Fnnabair Waxes on them.

Ok, that's pretty good for a first start - what I did learn was that a little does indeed go a looooong way!
Guess I need to get some other colours and moulds!

Until next time, keep chasing white unicorns!
